Additional Support Services

Growing up and finding your way in the world of work is scary. We recognise this, and we’re here to help. As well as our internship programme, we pride ourselves in being able to offer a range of bespoke support services supplementing everything else. We believe in a holistic approach to our students’ experience of college, understanding the importance of supporting the development of social, emotional and mental health education. Below you’ll find out about just some of the things we have on offer.

Life is often full of difficulties, challenges, up and downs, and at times our emotional states change frequently. At Lighthouse Futures Trust, we recognise that sometimes our feelings can be overwhelming. We have a dedicated professional counsellor and wellbeing manager offering 1-1, free, confidential, non-judgement counselling to interns that need it. Read more here.

Some interns may need extra support when transitioning to paid employment. Our employment transition coach supports these interns in all aspects of this transition, including bespoke workshops on searching for, preparing for and maintaining employment. Read more here.

At Lighthouse Futures Trust we offer access to a variety of inclusive and accessible enrichment opportunities through our after-college clubs, alumni clubs and trips programme. Existing and past interns are supported in accessing a variety of social activities in and around Leeds to help keep in touch, develop new friendships, and take part in new things. Read more here.

When young people join Lighthouse Futures Trust their lives change. They develop their independence, social and work skills, and it can happen quite quickly. We therefore offer support to parents and carers, particularly via our monthly Parent & Carer Group which provides and opportunity to connect with others. And it doesn’t stop when interns finish with Lighthouse Futures Trust, parents and carers are welcome to still attend the Group for as long as they need. The group share experiences, ideas, questions, explore a range of relevant topics, hear from guest speakers, and gain practical and informative advice.
