Clubs

We run a range of after-college clubs for our interns. They are free of charge and available to current pre-interns and supported interns. Clubs generally finish at 5:30pm. They are booked by interns on a first-come first served basis, although we will endeavour to make sure those with a particular interest in something are included. Numbers vary by activity.

Please note that some activities take place at venues outside of Carlton House to help encourage our young people to visit new places and try new things.

Where clubs are ‘monthly’ please make a note of the dates clubs are running as the monthly pattern may change due to the academic year and college half terms etc.

Table Tennis

Our monthly Table Tennis Club takes place on Mondays at Heart in Headingley. We will leave Carlton House at 4:00pm and walk to Heart for our 4:30 to 5:30pm table tennis session. Supported Interns can meet us there. Comfortable clothes recommended. Please bring money if you would like to buy a soft drink from the cafe. Departure and collection is from Heart at 5:30pm.

Book Club

Our monthly Book Club takes place in the cafe at Heart in Headingley. It is for all abilities and will be a relaxed approach to reading and exploring different types of books. We will leave Carlton House at 4:00pm to walk to Heart where we will be based in their lovely cafe from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. This is a social event, so please do bring some money to buy a soft drink and cake if you would like to. Departure and collection is from Heart at 5:30pm.

Yoga

We go to our relaxed beginners yoga class at We Are Wellness in Headingley on a monthly basis. No previous experience needed. We leave Carlton House at 4:00pm to go by bus to We Are Wellness for our 4:30 to 5:30pm session. Supported Interns can meet us there. Please bring yoga-suitable clothing with you and get changed before we leave. This could be basic sports wear and doesn’t need to be fancy – but remember we’ll be bending over a lot. Yoga is done bare foot. Departure and collection is from We Are Wellness at 5:30pm.

Music Club

We go to Music House near Leeds University for our Music Club where we will have access to a range of instruments meaning that everyone can have a go – should you want to! We’ll be listening to and discussing our favourite music, and being introduced to some new things too. No previous experience needed. Those of us at Carlton House or White Rose House will get the bus to travel there, with supported interns meeting us at Music House at 4:30pm. Departure/collection is from Music House at 5:30pm. NB. Parking is limited.

Creative Writing

This monthly club is a fantastic creative mix of craft and writing. It’s aimed at all abilities and we’ll be exploring how we generate ideas for stories and get our writing started, sometimes without even putting a pen to paper. It’s all about having a go, getting excited about words, and trying something we maybe thought we couldn’t do. Club starts at 4:00pm and finishes at 5:00pm with departure/collection from Carlton House.

Drama Club

Drama Club takes place roughly once a fortnight at White Rose House. It’s for anyone who wants to have a go at performing, or just wants to improve on being able to talk in a group setting. Helping with communications for work, as well being a lot of fun, we can’t wait to see everyone taking part! Drama Club is at White Rose House, starting at 4:00pm and finishing at 5:30pm.

Singing Club

Based at Carlton House, our fortnightly Singing Club is pure fun with a microphone. Pick a song, get it on, sing along. No experience or singing prowess needed – everyone and all talents welcome. We’ll have the kettle on in the kitchen and we’ll relax into an hour of singing sensations! Singing Club runs from 4:00pm with departure/collection from Carlton House at 5:00pm.

Games Club

A fun evening where the interns get to choose what they want to do from our big pile of board games. We all gather at Carlton House, get the kettle on, hang out together and just have a nice time – perfect for the end of a week at college or work! The monthly club runs from 4:00 to 5:00pm with departure/collection from Carlton House.
