Support Lighthouse Futures Trust
Lighthouse Futures Trust is a registered charity. While a lot of our work with students is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and Leeds City Council (LCC), we also rely on charitable funding to run some of our additional enrichment programmes. Below are some ways you can support us:
Donations
We are always happy to receive good quality donations of books, interview suits, and board games. Please contact us before bringing your items in to ensure we are able to take them.
We are setting up a library in our Pre-Intern common room. We would love your old books to help give our students lots of choice. We’re looking for books for young adult readers, and anything like Harry Potter, Jaqueline Wilson, and Phillip Pullman.
Our monthly board games club is looking for some extra games, so if you’re having a clear out, we would love any good quality, complete games that you’re giving away.
Students on our Associates Programme are regularly interviewing for jobs. Not everyone has a suit, so we are looking for good quality donated interview suits that we can lend them to our interns.
Sponsor an event
We regularly have low-cost opportunities to sponsor events that directly impact the young people we work with at Lighthouse Futures Trust. We can work with you to recognise any sponsorship, including case studies on our website and social media.
Our annual graduation ceremony for students that have completed their supported internship, their families and their work buddies. Sponsorship opportunities available to support venue hire and catering.
Sponsorship of an annual graduation pack for students. This could include a branded mug and bag featuring the college logo as well as your own.
Interview practice is crucial for our Associates, those students that are still looking for paid employment after completing their supported internships. We run a series of events in Leeds city centre with volunteers from our partner companies to help prepare our students. Room hire costs can vary and we would welcome your support to meet these costs.
Volunteer
Volunteering is good for the soul. As well as making you feel brilliant for giving back, it’s also a great way to try out new things, challenge yourself and hone your skills. And there’s nothing like working with young people to make you feel like you’ve had a worthwhile day at work.
As part of our work-ready programme with our Pre-Interns, we go on lots of workplace visits. For some young people, the workplace, or even a building they’re not used to, can be scary. The more different types of buildings we can visit the better. Can we come to see you?
We always need business volunteers who are willing to help our young people with mock interviews and talks about their work. It’s one thing to hear a member of staff tell you about job opportunities, but totally different hearing it first hand from someone that already does it.
We often need a venue to host a meeting, for example one of our Leeds Inclusive Employer Network meetings. Have you got a room that will take 50 people? Get in touch if you’d be able to accommodate us.
