Branching Out

Not all of our internships are based in offices or indoors. Not all of our interns (or staff!) want to be inside all the time, so we have a range of employers that we work with who work in different environments, from the countryside to construction.

Our Branching Out Job Coaches are specifically trained to lead and support on these activities. Below you will find some examples of the types of projects our Branching Out interns are working on.

In Focus: citu

Supported interns working with sustainable developer CITU are given the opportunity to join the team on a ‘live’ construction site.

They are introduced to all of the different roles and responsibilities to understand the elements that make up the build and support their Citu work buddies in completing activities across the site, getting involved with things they never thought they’d be able to.

Working outside has given our supported interns an opportunity to be outside, working alongside nature, and introduced them to new forms of exercise like going for a walk by the canal.

In Focus: Crag House Farm

Crag House Farm offer our supported interns the opportunity to work in three different settings: in the restaurant, farm shop, and garden centre. Our interns are all customer-facing and on a daily basis complete a range of tasks which are both role-specific and transferable to other future jobs.

The interns are supported by the patient, caring buddies at Crag House Farm that enable and encourage them to try new things and excel at everything they do. A central hub where our job coaches are based gives the interns the reassurance that there will always be someone to call upon should they need it.
