As part of our innovative approach, we are working with AssistiV, a Yorkshire-based social enterprise with experience in using technology to help people with support needs sustain paid employment. They are working with us to design an app which can be customised to each intern, providing access to advice and guidance via equipment of their choice – smart watch, phone or tablet. This is pre-programmed to meet their own needs and can include support with: travel to and from work; how to deal with anxiety; and how to undertake key tasks in the workplace. We have been piloting this since autumn 2022 and are already seeing incredible results which enable the interns to travel and work independently.
