Health & Safety
The college is committed to ensuring that all activities undertaken by staff and students in its premises, or when working on an employer site, are carried out to the highest possible health and safety standards.
As stated in the 1974 Health & Safety Act, everybody has a responsibility to take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their activities.
- We have dedicated staff who undertake detailed risk assessments on our college premises, as well as ensuring that our employer sites have appropriate policies and procedures in place. Our external Health & Safety provider regularly visits us and provides training for staff.
- Every student has a personal risk assessment based on the programme they are on, and where it is based. This takes into account any specific actions that might need to be taken to ensure they are safe with Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans put in place as needed.
- Understanding health and safety in more detail is a core part of the Term One curriculum for all students, with key messages repeated during the year.
