Joining us
When you join Lighthouse Futures Trust, we spend some time doing activities to help us all get to know each other. You’ll also get to know the staff and our college buildings in Headingley.
We’ll go through everything with you, from the daily and weekly routines, where activities will take place and who will be with you. If you’re joining for a supported internship, you’ll also take part in ‘Inspiration Days’.
Induction
For all young people joining us, whether that is in September or at another point in the year (for Pre-Interns), an induction takes place which includes familiarising them with our buildings, timetable, staff, and ways of working.
Initial assessment
An initial assessment takes place, so we know our students’ capabilities. Schools and other provisions often don’t provide exactly what’s needed, so this allows us to understand how individuals learn best.
Student information
At the beginning of the first term, we will need to make sure we have all the relevant and up-to-date contact information on our system. We will also need details of health conditions etc. so that we have everything to hand, should we ever need it. It is therefore important that requested information be returned straight away.
ID cards & lanyards
ID cards are used whenever our students are on site or out on trips and visits. We also encourage our young people to wear them when they are shopping in Headingley as our lanyards are well known by the staff in shops nearby and they will provide additional support if needed.
Freshers fair
Clubs are launched at a Freshers Fair in the first term, enabling students to sign up for those they would like to do. Clubs are free to attend and all current interns can take part.
