When I left school I didn’t really know what I do and Lighthouse Futures Trust seemed like the best option for me. Now I know what I want to do, painting and decorating. Lighthouse Futures Trust have helped me to choose this as a job role and given me experience. I would never have known to do decorating previously.
I work with my co-workers in the hospital, and we paint around hospital wards and offices, wherever needs doing. Some days I might work with just one person and on other days it might be two. I work Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 3pm. I like it, it is good. It has helped me to learn a lot of new skills and I get on well with all my other workers. Read more…

I would definitely recommend the internship because you can ask for help if you need it, if you get stressed or confused.

Staff at school told me a bit about Lighthouse Futures Trust and explained supported internships to me. There were other options, but I preferred Lighthouse. I thought it would be good for meeting new people and it would be new chapter in my life. It sounded better than going to college and I knew people already there who said it was good and the staff were nice. It was going to be a new start where I wouldn’t know anyone.
Knowing what to do in my life was a big challenge for me. I know I want to work but I just don’t know what I want to do and I don’t know what I will like. Read more…
